Mom's & Kids 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the Month

GNC's Mom's & Kids program is a bimonthly program that has been held at Gorman Nature Center for over 30 years! And please don't be confused by the name! Mom's & Kids also welcomes dad's, grandparent's. uncle's, aunt's etc. The program is designed for children ages 2-6, but older and younger siblings are welcome to attend and participate on a limited basis. There are two different sessions each Wednesday and both are the exact same program, so participants can choose which time works best for them. Programs each week are age appropriate and often involve an indoor and outdoor component. Children are encouraged to bring a nature-related show-and-tell items with them each week to share with everyone. Adults are encouraged to add their names to our Mom's & Kids email list so that they may receive program updates prior to the actual program at GNC. Updates will include information regarding the upcoming program topic, tips and reminders for dressing appropriately for the weather, if the program will be inside or outside, etc.

The Night Sky Date & Time varies each month

The Night Sky is a monthly, outdoor astronomy program at Gorman Nature Center. Participants meet at the GNC visitor’s center. Each month participants will learn a bit about the moon and stars, view some constellations and planets, take home a free star chart and have all of your astronomical questions answered. This program is held only if the sky is clear.

Birds & Breakfast Walk 3rd Saturday of the Month April-November
Birds and Breakfast Bird Walks take place on the third Saturday of the month (unless otherwise noted) April - November. The bird walks last approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours and participants may come and go...as they please. Free checklists, bird guides, bird CD's and other birding information will be available to participants free of charge. Birding will take place around the building for approximately 15-20 minutes (to accommodate latecomers) and then we will head out onto the GNC trails. Following our walk, we will return to the visitor center to pick-up additional checklists, bird books, etc., and then participants will head to Paul Revere restaurant, in Lexington, for a hearty breakfast!
