GNC's Mom's & Kids program is a bimonthly program that has been held at Gorman Nature Center for over 30 years! Don't be confused by the name; Mom's & Kids also welcomes dad's, grandparent's. uncle's, aunt's etc. The program is designed for children ages 2-6, but older and younger siblings are welcome to attend and participate on a limited basis. It is offered every Wednesday (except under special circumstances) with identical sessions at 9am and 10 am. This program is focused on growth through discovery, and takes participants indoors and out to explore our natural world.
Children are encouraged to bring a nature-related show-and-tell items with them each week, and adults are encouraged to add their names to our Mom's & Kids email list so that they may receive program updates including: information regarding the upcoming program topic, tips and reminders for dressing appropriately for the weather, if the program will be inside or outside, etc.
The Night Sky is a monthly, outdoor astronomy program at Gorman Nature Center. Participants meet at the GNC visitor’s center. Each month participants will learn a bit about the moon and stars, view some constellations and planets, take home a free star chart and have all of your astronomical questions answered. This program is held only if the sky is clear.

There are two different sessions each Wednesday and both are the exact same program, so participants can choose which time works best for them. Programs each week are age appropriate and often involve an indoor and outdoor component. Children are encouraged to bring a nature-related show-and-tell items with them each week to share with everyone. Adults are encouraged to add their names to our Mom's & Kids email list so that they may receive program updates prior to the actual program at GNC. Updates will include information regarding the upcoming program topic, tips and reminders for dressing appropriately for the weather, if the program will be inside or outside, etc.
The Nature Walk for Seniors is a quarterly program designed to take things at a slower pace. Participants will join various GNC staff members for a leisurely nature hike around the GNC property. Participants will travel a different trail on each visit and topics vary with the changing seasons. The walks normally take place on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and last for 1-2 hours. This is a 10 week series offered for 10-18 year olds who enjoy the art of writing creatively, and want to get outside to do it. Each series focuses on a different learning goal or writing topic, and gives students the opportunity to learn writing and literacy skills in an out of classroom environment. Bringing Up Discoverers (BUD) is a program for 3-5 year olds who love being outside. Classes are offered in 6 week sessions from September-Aptil on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. BUD has a limited class size and registration is required. Registration cost is $85/6 week session for non-members and $60 for sustaining members.
